[00:03.04]marks the eighteenth yearly Guinness World Records Day.
[00:08.76]People from around the world
[00:10.88]are trying to set all kinds of records on this day.
[00:16.40]They include records for most football crossovers while sitting down
[00:21.92]to most consecutive jumps over cars on a pogo stick.
[00:27.00]British gymnast Ashley Watson said,
[00:31.60]"If you want to be a Guinness World Records title holder just go for it."
[00:37.44]Watson broke his own record on gymnastics equipment
[00:42.24]for "farthest backflip between horizontal bars"
[00:46.36]with a distance of six meters.
[00:49.64]He set the previous record of 5.87 meters back in 2018.
[00:58.68]Venezuelan soccer player Laura Biondo
[01:01.80]broke not one but two records for the day.
[01:06.96]She recorded "most sit-down football crossovers
[01:10.96]in 30 seconds (female)" with 62
[01:14.80]and "most double around the world ball control tricks
[01:19.28]in one minute (female)" with 24.
[01:24.16]The two new records added to Biondo's 11 other Guinness records.
[01:30.92]Soccer is the American word for the sport of football.
[01:36.44]Biondo said, "If you set yourself a goal,
[01:40.32]you can definitely achieve it if you put hard work into it."
[01:45.48]She is planning to set a few more records
[01:48.56]to reach a total of at least 15.
[01:53.60]The idea for Guinness World Records
[01:56.64]came in the early 1950s when some hunters in Wexford, Ireland
[02:02.60]argued about the fastest game bird.
[02:06.68]They could not find the answer in any book.
[02:10.52]So Hugh Beaver came up with an idea for a book
[02:15.08]to settle the arguments and to publicize his beer company, Guinness.
[02:21.92]The book had sold 143 million copies by 2019.
[02:29.00]There are now television programs,
[02:31.84]game shows and museums to show the records.
[02:37.48]In case you are wondering, Guinness says
[02:40.80]the fastest game bird is the golden plover.
[02:46.12]A few more records were also set Wednesday on World Records Day.
[02:51.72]In Nanchong, China, Zhang Shuang, who weighs 70 kilograms,
[02:56.88]pulled a 1225-kilogram vehicle while walking on his hands.
[03:04.52]He was able to pass the 50-meter mark in 1 minute 13.27 seconds.
[03:12.28]That was good enough for the "fastest time
[03:15.44]to pull a car 50 meters walking on hands."
[03:20.96]Zhang said he is walking on his hands every day
[03:24.92]and often shows them off to his students.
[03:29.48]In southeastern China, 11-year-old Wang Guanwutong
[03:34.24]failed in his first attempt to set the record
[03:37.24]for "most consecutive breakdance airflares (male)."
[03:42.28]An airflare is a dance movement in which
[03:45.56]the dancer spins around the dance floor on one hand.
[03:51.00]Wang finally set a new record for males of 94 airflares.
[03:57.36]However, he has a long way to go
[04:00.16]to match the female record of 121 airflares
[04:04.80]set by seven-year-old Qi Yufan, also of China.
[04:10.20]In Japan, Takahiro Ikeda set not one
[04:14.20]but three records on his BMX bicycle.
[04:19.12]Those records are: "most BMX Stick B in 30 seconds," 3;
[04:25.64]"most BMX time machines in 30 seconds," 45;
[04:31.32]and "BMX - most turbine megaspins in one minute:" 45.

[04:42.28]In Doha, Qatar, Ayoub Touabe of Morocco
[04:46.84]used one of his legs instead of his hands to set the record
